Kindle - Resume

After a week of using my new (and first) ebook reader I've done a little pro/con list:

Pros:
- It’s surprisingly comfortable to read.
I always thought that the eyes will begin to hurt after some time. But it’s not comparable with a computer screen. It really looks like a printed book page.

- The weight - it's as light as a feder
which makes it easier and more comfortable to read in bed.

- There's no sound when turning the pages
which I don’t care about but the BF loves it. :)

- The book you want to read is within seconds on your Kindle. No more waiting (impatiently) for book deliveries.

- You can carry as much books as you want in your purse.

- If you don’t want to buy the hardcover of a new release but also can’t wait until the book is available in paperback, the Kindle is a good alternative…ebooks are definitely cheaper than hardcovers.

- Books of special genres (*cough* erotica *cough*) are cheaper than anywhere else. ;)

Cons (these apply only to NON-US citizens like me!):
- Kindle has almost no German translations which, however, is ok for me as I prefer to read my books in English.

- The book prices are higher for Euopean customers than for US customers which really annoys me!

- Except for special offers, the regular book price for Europeans is $ 9,65. Most of the time the paperbacks are cheaper on Amazon(.de) or bookdepository.

- Books that are for free for US citizens cost about $3 for Europeans. I know 3 Dollars is almost nothing converted into Euros but still…imo, not fair!

Resumé:
All in all I really like my new toy. :) I like that I have a wider range to search for books/hunt for special offers. Nevertheless, I still think that it can not replace the smell and feel of a book in my hands or the contentment (and a little bit of excitement) that settles over me when I open the first page of a new book. I’ll definitely continue to buy paperbacks in the future.

In the end it will depend on the price whether I buy the paperback or Kindle edition.

Sounds like it's easy to handle, but the book prices totally annoy me. A paperback book at Amazon or Book Depositoryis about 5 Euro. So, with paying for the Kindle plus the book prices, this is a no go for me.

Thanks for your resumee.
